In this post I’ll be sharing some photos and videos from hikes/bikes number 27-30 in the 52in25 series. Soon it’ll be too hot to spend much time at some of these places, so I’m packing them in now while I can. Our inland San Diego temperatures can easily reach over 100F during the summer months, which will prevent from enjoying some of these beauty spots til November or thereabouts.
Working backwards, number 30 was a hot bike ride in Pamo Valley near Ramona on June 2 2025. Normally I hit this trail in the early morning, but made a last second decision to ride it that day, so it was a mid-afternoon start. It’s a hard climb on bike! It’s uphill for just over 7 miles, before a bumpy 7 miles descent back down. It was 82 degrees starting out. I took advantage of shade anytime I found some, but it’s a pretty exposed trail, so it didn’t happen often. We didn’t make it all the way due to the heat, but rode a total of 10 miles. Didn’t see much in the way of wildlife, except some birds, and a friendly Gopher snake who was shading itself right next to our car when we got back.
Number 29 was a quick ride at one of my favorite spots in North County – Sycamore Canyon. I’ve shared a lot of snaps from this place, but I stopped at the Oak tree placards this time, and you can read all about those below.
Lake Hodges was ride number 28 – approx 25 miles, having left from my home and riding to the trail. The water level had increased quite a bit. I shared some photos of where the water level was earlier in the year here. You can see below where it’s at now.
And finally for today, I enjoyed a 3 mile beach hike at Torrey Pines a few weeks back on Mother’s Day. Here’s some photos to enjoy!
